Technician notes
Work performed
Set up containment and a HEPA vacuum, rotary-swept the full flue and smoke chamber, cleaned the firebox, cleared the cap screen, and lubricated the damper hinge.
Problems discovered
Damper sticks partially closed when cold. Cap screen was restricting draft. Two mortar joints in the smoke chamber are eroding.
Recommended repairs
Parge the smoke chamber joints before the next burning season and replace the cap with a properly sized stainless model. Burn only seasoned hardwood.
Additional notes
Customer burns roughly two cords per season — annual sweep recommended.
